It’s Tibbs Eve here in Newfoundland, so tonight’s beer seems appropriate – a chocolate mint stout. I’m a big fan of chocolate and mint together, so I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while.
The chocolate really comes through on the nose, and on the first few sips as well. Not really getting the mint, but there’s certainly sweetness. It’s a fine example of a chocolate stout, to be sure. The carbonation is a little lighter than I like for this style, but still good. Head formation and retention wasn’t huge, but it doesn’t seem to affect the flavour. Like all the stouts in the calendar, this one is way too dark to see through.
