Today’s beer is a smoked porter. I’ve had a couple of smokey beers, and wasn’t a huge fan, mainly because I felt the smoke was overpowering. Still, fortune favours the bold, so onward!
The nose does have some smoke, but it’s not too intense, which bodes well. First sip, that campfire smell comes across the palate a lot stronger, but not overpowering. I think the choice of a porter definitely helps balance out the smoke; it might be interesting to try a sweeter version of this. The carbonation is good, and the head formation was very nice. Didn’t hold up super long, but that could be a function of my glassware.
